Minor League Road Trip: Quad Cities River Bandits

While traveling to the Quad Cities for work, I had the opportunity to take in a Quad Cities River Bandits game. The River Bandits are an A-class affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. They play at Modern Woodmen Park In Davenport, IA, right off the mighty Mississippi.

I was travelling midweek, and saw the team was in town on a Wednesday night. I simply went up tot he ticket booth and said that I wanted the best seat available. Apparently that was half price ticket night, so I got this view for $7.50. WOW!

With the ferris wheel in left field, there's a whole carnival vibe happening out there. I've never seen that at a baseball game before! Tickets are per ride, and all affordable. It's a great spot to keep kids entertained! Honestly, it's a great idea, and I'm surprised this is the first I've ever heard of a team doing that. The left field fun park is a permanent installation, so I presume they have on and off day events out there.

So onto my favorite part of baseball, the food. Modern Woodmen's food was nothing to write home about. Good, cheap, and they had all the favorites. No crazy special items, but that's fine. Really, the biggest per was how affordable it all was. I ate a cheddar brat, a burger, a beer, churros, and a soda, and the total was under $20. Like the ticket, that's crazy affordable.

The stadium is a great venue. Plenty of breeze coming off the river. Apparently, it was opened in 1931, with multiple renovations. Being off the river, it has been hit with floods roughly every 20 years, and they've had to adapt. Taking all of this into consideration, I'm especially impressed with how good of a park it was. They've won awards to back it up as well.

Overall, the QC river bandits was a great baseball experience. Super affordable for a great venue checks my boxes. While I went to this game solo, I'd love to come back and bring my nieces!
