Christkindlmarket at Wrigley

Gallagher Way at Wrigley has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland! The Christkindlmarket Wrigleyville opened on November 22 and includes a skating rink and a German-style outdoor market filled with food, drink and vendors selling gifts such as ornaments, knitwear and pottery.

The ice rink is open daily. You can rent skates and get your picture taken at the fabricated outfield wall! There are also warming stations in here in case you get a bit chilled.

Food options are plenty. Soups, potato pancakes, sausages, pretzels, even raclette (a semi-hard cheese, melted into a sandwich). And of course, you need to get a hot cider in a commemorative boot!

The Cubs Store was open too, so I stopped to see what fun things they have. OMG they have a Sparkles beach towel! They also had a trophy case including Greg Maddux' Cy Young & Gold Glove awards, Ryne Sandberg's numerous Gold Gloves and Silver Slugger awards and even a base from the Cubs' 100th win in 2016.

If you are in the area, it's worth a visit. Admission is free. Hours, additional info and events are posted on the Gallagher Way website. There will be music, movies, wreath crafting (!) and Santa visits. Also, if you haven't seen the World Series Trophy, check the Gallagher Way website. If it's available for viewing, it will be noted on the front page of the website.

Happy holidays!
