Love Letters From Pronk: The Sogards

Love Letters From Pronk is an ongoing series where Pronk shares his love for somebody connected to the Cubs. Sometimes funny, sometimes weird, Pronk likes to make 100% sure people know that they are loved, and best expresses that through gushing letters. Today's pick: The Sogards: Eric and Kaycee

Eric Sogard was signed by the Cubs this past offseason. After a good spring training, he made the team as some much needed infield depth. He's had some clutch hits this year. His ability to make contact has helped turn the Cubs lineup from being way to strikeout prone into a more even threat. With injuries to Nico and Javy, Sogard's steady glove has kept the team afloat.

Eric is one part of Team Sogard. He is married to Kaycee, and they have a huge family of five kids. Two of whom they recently adopted. After going through that process, they began working with the Gift of Adoption fund to help financially provide to other families interested in adopting. How wonderful!

Recently, Kaycee found my pal Lucky on twitter, and gifted him 3 tickets to the game on 5/18. How cool is that? The next day Eric hit his first home run as a Cub.

Dear Team Sogard,

Thank you for providing for the McMahon family. What a thrill it'll be for Lucky to get to the game again. He just had a super cool experience at a Cubs game that would be very tough to top. But getting tickets from a player? That will for sure top it! That's a story of kindness that won't ever be forgotten, and will inspire others to imitate. As people who have a large reach, it's important to be a good influence. You both are a great one!

I really appreciate your work in adoption. The financial burden turns away so many willing couples, so to recognize that you've both been blessed enough to try and support others is special. Congratulations on your recent adoption as well! Most ballplayers collect fancy cars. But you both collect something much more noble.

Thank you for being a part of the Cubs family. I really appreciate having some kind souls be a part of the Cubs. I hope that both of you and all of your kids enjoy your time in Chicago. It can be a very fun place!

XOXO

-Pronk
