Love Letters From Pronk: Steve Cishek

Updated: Jul 5, 2020

Love Letters From Pronk is an ongoing series where Pronk shares his love for somebody connected to the Cubs or baseball. Sometimes funny, sometimes weird, sometimes touching, Pronk likes to make 100% sure people know that they are loved, and best expresses that through gushing letters. Today's recipient: Former Cubs relief ace Steve Cishek

Steve Cishek is an awesome dude. Also known as Speedpass or Shrek, he's a great light onto the world. He was a great pitcher for the Cubs, nailing down many late inning jams as a relief ace in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He an outstanding guy who took time to put together a great pep talk for Seth Bortscheller:

And he's an inspirational Christian with a positive message:

Dear Steve,

Thank you for the two great seasons on the north side. You were one of those guys I always hoped the Cubs would get, and I was ecstatic when you were signed. Thank you for holding so many leads, and keeping the team in the game.

Thank you for being one of those humble guys who's positivity just rubs off on others. Baseball teams don't need 25 guys with the biggest personas. They need lots of positive supporting pillars who can bear the load. You do you job, and give it your all, and I really appreciate how you consider it a privilege.

Thank you for sharing Col 3:23 openly. It's one of my favorite verses as well, so it was quite gratifying to see that it's the one you carry with you. Thank you for using your platform to be a light.

You'll always be welcome at Wrigley. We will miss you!

XOXO,

Pronk
