Dear Dexter,
Every time I hear a current Cubs player talk about the one guy they miss, the name Dexter Fowler comes up.
Even though you were here just two seasons, you left an impact.
First, there's the goofy smile. It's infectious. do a search for Dexter Fowler on the google, and you get an assortment of pictures. But check out in how many of those you were smiling. Over half. Your smiles rub off on fans and players in the right way.
For those two years, it was exciting to see the "you go, we go" happen. Not everyone with a good OBP can just lead off. It takes a certain mentality to be successful. You had that intangible quality to lead off well. We've missed it since you left. The best instance of that was game 7, where the Cubs never trailed, starting with the first at bat.
It was sad that you had to leave. I get it, there was money, roster allocations, life happens. Most people realize was that you left the Cubs a winner. As a World Series Champion. But they don't realize that the final time you took off the Cubs jersey was this:
You were always one of those happy fun loving players we loved to root for. You are a Cub for life.
