Love Letters From Pronk is an ongoing series where Pronk shares his love for somebody connected to the Cubs. Sometimes funny, sometimes weird, Pronk likes to make 100% sure people know that they are loved, and best expresses that through gushing letters. Once in a while, other members of the Cubs DNA staff wrestle the space away from Pronk so that they can share their undying affection for someone in the Cubs sphere, and today is one such occasion as Staci and Tina get lovey dovey over former Cubs reliever Brian Duensing.
You might recall reliever Brian Duensing pitching for the Cubs in 2017 (yay!) and 2018 (awww). Duensing has since retired from MLB action, but in those two short years with the team he became a favorite of Cubs DNA staffers, particularly Staci and Tina. This is their ode to Duensing, AKA #HotDaddy.
Dearest Brian,
We're not gonna lie--we miss you. A lot. We didn't know much about you when you signed with the Cubs, but there was a moment when we saw a picture of you at Rizzo's Cook-Off for Cancer event and we were like, "Who's that?" The dialog went something like this:
Staci: "I think that's Brian Duensing!"
Tina: "He's cute!"
Rando jealous Bleacher Nation poster: "He looks like someone's dad."
Tina: "You mean a hot dad!"
Staci: "#HotDaddy!"
And from that moment on, you were #HotDaddy on Bleacher Nation and beyond, and to this day the name has stuck on Cubs DNA. It's even in our glossary! That was even before you gave us this!
Lest you think we're just shallow, however, don't think we don't see you, #HotDaddy, and all your charity work! We watched you help countless children each season with cancer and other pediatric ailments through your Brian Duensing Foundation. And while you might not be in the spotlight any longer, we STILL see you continuing to help kids quietly through donations like this:

Truth be told, we miss you, #HotDaddy. Perhaps you didn't go out on the high note you might have liked, but you're a quality human being with a heck of a sense of humor. And at the end of the day, you'll always have this, even if you never knew about it before:
