Series Recap: Cubs vs Indians

The Cubs completed a second two game series against the Cleveland Indians. This time, they were at Wrigley Field for two. The Cubs won both games, completing a season series sweep.

We had TWO BINGOS: as the boys are playing well again!

September 15

Cubs Win 6-5

Yu Darvish was good, not great- 7 innings and 9 hits allowed, but this translated to just 2 ER. Darvish walked just 1 and struck out 7. Wick had a scoreless outing. Jeffress struggled to a 2 ER outing (2 walks and a hit did him in).

Cubs bats scored 6 runs on 11 hits and 3 walks. Baez had a solo home run in the 2nd. Bryant and Rizzo each had RBI hits in the 5th. Contreras had an RBI sac fly in the 7th. Javy Baez basically stole home in the 8th, stealing a base and kept going on some Indians little league defense. In the bottom of the 9th, the Cubs walked off on back to back plunked hitters, with Maybin getting the game winner.

September 16th

Cubs win 3-2 (10 innings)

Jon Lester had another good start: 5IP 2 ER, H, 1 BB. He threw only 62 pitches, and just missed out on a quality start. It was a good outing though. The bullpen did well, throwing 5 shutout innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out 7. It was a parade of Tepera, Wick, Kimbrel, Jeffress and Adam: likely the top pitchers we'll see int he playoffs. The Cubs scored 3 runs on 9 hits, with RBIs coming from Baez, Heyward and Maybin. Baez had the game winning hit in the 10th inning.

The Cubs are now 30-20, with a 5.5 game lead over a combo of Reds, Cardinals, and Brewers. Matt went 2-0 with the pants, and finishes with a 13-7 record. The pants are on the road again, moving to Hurdle.
