Minor League Monday: News Bits

As the minor league season begins next week (finally!), there's a couple bits of news to keep in mind as we go forward.

AAA games on Marquee:

Marquee sports network will be broadcasting 14 Iowa Cubs games this season. Minor League Baseball on big league TV! That will be a welcome addition to the regular broadcasting. It amounts to basically one game every other week, but hey, I'll take it.

Brennen Davis:

During a AA scrimmage game on 4/22, Cubs prospect Brennen Davis was hit in the face with a pitch. There's no video of the incident, but word spread that he was on his hands and knees for a bit, bleeding. Fortunately, he checked in the next day and it looks like he will be fine.

Iowa Cubs safety guidelines:

The AAA Iowa Cubs announced safety guidelines as their tickets went on sale. While most teams have been releasing a five page PDF, the I-Cubs went above and beyond in this video:

Smokies promo schedule:

The AA Tennessee Smokies release their promotional schedule for the month of May. I am most excited for Taco Tuesdays, which is two dollar tacos that is too exciting for my two hands to handle.

Next week is opening day! It's almost here!
