Osborne recently revealed on LinkedIn that he's leaving Jagex after 15 years of editing content in narrative design, as well as lead design. It's a choice he made in OSRS Gold order to "test [his] experience with the rest of the sector." Osborne is leaving Jagex and is stepping into Square Enix on the publishing part, as a Senior Designer. The new role will include overseeing "some fantastic games," starting with Outriders.
The news prompted Redditor FatNWackyRS to contact users on r/Outriders to send a message on Mod Osborne, describing him as the "warm and welcoming "Dad" face at Jagex." FatNWackyRS describes everything Mod Osborne has done for the community throughout the years, with a focus on clips, such as acting as Mod Elfborne, promoting Prifddinas (an Elf City in Runescape) in livestreams, joining, and helping alongside Jagex's vision.
While some gamers or communities are upset at losing a brand name, FatNWackyRS invited other Runescape players to discuss their experiences. One person, in particular, declares that they've been both winners and losers due to playing simultaneously in Runescape in addition to Outriders. Some were thrilled by this announcement, even those who have never had a conversation with Osborne before, thanks to this glowing recommendation from one of the Runescape community.
It's true that what exactly will transpire on his side of the Outriders fence remains to be seen, however players know that a lot of positive things are coming into the sport. Outriders' Worldslayer expansion is scheduled to launch sometime this spring . It's set to release in 2015 in addition to the fact that People Can Fly has a variety of other projects underway, including a new game with Cheap RS Gold Square Enix. The question is whether Osborne will be involved in this, however, remains to be seen.
